Just saying..the day came to when this track just walked in and I had to ask it to sit and wait till i was done thinking about other tracks..I had an idea to throw an upbeat track out for the next release and this "Transcend" was sitting there all droopy and melancholic looking..I went into ignoring it ..
the lyric was gloomy and I just could not find a way to sing it from out side from under a blanket of dread..drowning in the feeling it was provoking i couldn't touch it with out having to choke up..after heard the rounds from what came down to the takes it was always the last thought to not put it up as anything more then a doodle..
Edd came in and took a listen and was right off the bat talking how it needed some more swag in the delivery, to push a few takes with some hooks ..days went by as i tried over and over again to manage to land these "hooks" ..she kept saying almost..but not right, after being frustrated with hearing the track ten million times i resorted to the way it was sung in the first round of takes ..with very little changes from all the new takes.. I started to hate the song..it was like a big magnifying glass in a sunny day ..so revealing and exposed . nothing special or holy shit cool about it..then the numbing came..i detached and went into sprint mode.."get er done!!"
the bass on the mix became an issue over and over as the track ran for the finals.might be a little thin now that its been finalized ar ar..

so what made it beat all the other tracks to the finish? Edd for one...She says its good..then its good for me..and without her singing with me id never realy would have let this go..plus the song itself was a stubborn resistant little shit! it just made all my reasons to "not to" look small and pointless..

I had songs that i did live back in that day that took the same light...the favorites to everyone in the audience usually end up being the most exposing and least liked by my own committee..in a way i have grown a bit fond to the ones that show up to embarrass my committee..lol yea like IM crazy ar ar..no no..im kind to myself..they just need to lighten up and let what is ..be.

the Video was a quick match to the lyric..i just seen the video recently and thought how cool the conceptual scenes were ..the over all plot was a match too..
it was no argument really to get them two together..
they talked..and i just walked away at that point..


the closing album cover graphic was last minute..it was not even a thought while photoshop was opening..a few minutes into diggin through the graphics bag it kept coming up to throw a collage of religious icons into a mix and center it around a subject with the title "Transcend" but the song had nothing religious realy about it..it was about coming to a place inside to allow myself to be share able..sneaking out of my committee meeting and taking a walk down the hall and out into the street..
taking that melancholic child in my head and walking him out to get a hotdog or an ice cream, or both even..
taking that elephant in the room and just riding him like a rodeo cowboy..walking to the grave of your buddy and popping a few beers ..walking out of the graveyard and into blues club and finishing up the night...


anyway..starting to write songs again , got to start from where im at, and I'm right here..lets see where we go.
